A convoy of President Trump supporters marched through the city of Portland, protesting overnight against police brutality and racial injustice. One person was shot dead.

The pro-Trump rally pulled hundreds of trucks full of supporters into the city. At times, Trump supporters and anti-proponents clashed on the streets, people firing paintball guns from the beds of pickup trucks and protesters throwing things at them.

A video aimed at the shooting, taken from a long distance off the road, shows a small group of people outside the street in what appears to be a parking garage. The sound of gunfire erupted, and a man fell into the street.

The man shot was wearing a hat with a gesture of Patriot Prairie, a right-wing group based in Portland, who had previously clashed with protesters.

The Portland Police Bureau said officers heard reports of the shooting just before 9am. And he found a man wounded by a bullet in the chest. It was determined that the victim had died. He did not release any information about the possible gunman.

At the scene, police officers blocked the road and paramedics sent a man with a chest injury.

Trump supporters gathered in the suburbs earlier in the week and paved the way for the hundreds of vehicles attending the event, forcing them to park on highways outside the city center. But some protesters marched straight into the city, where protesters clashed with some vehicles. Some conflicts led to fist fights. In one encounter, someone on a motorcycle pulled police to the scene.

While protests in Portland continue, their numbers have changed over time. The night's events began with large-scale protests after Mr Floyd's death, then shocking a small number of people who repeatedly clashed with police. In July, when the federal government sent agents hiding in the city, the number of protests increased dramatically again.

In recent days, protest rallies have usually been attended by only a few hundred people. On Friday, after a peaceful demonstration in front of Mayor Ted Wheeler's residence, a mob stormed the Police Association building, where some protesters set fire to the building before dispersing the police crowd.

Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

Mr Trump focused on the unrest in Portland during last week's Republican National Convention, which challenged city leaders to end the chaos. Mr Trump said in a tweet on Friday that the federal government would move into the city if the mayor failed to maintain control.

In a letter Friday, Mr. Wheeler told Mr. Trump to stay away, saying that the former federal presence has made matters worse. "Your offer to repeat this catastrophe is a vicious attempt to create fear and divert us from the real work of our city," he wrote.
